Opposition Spokesman on Justice, Senator Mark Golding, says the legislative amendments proposed by the Attorney General could lead to an increase in police brutality.

Senator Golding is also calling on the Attorney General not to speak out of turn.

Mrs. Malahoo Forte told Parliament this week that the Government may have to deny Jamaicans some of their fundamental rights and freedoms in order to effectively tackle crime.

Senator Golding says the Attorney General’s comments are inappropriate.

Mr. Golding says Mrs. Malahoo Forte outlined a dangerous path which is unlikely to be fruitful.
