Goule, Thompson Take Gold At PanAm Games

Natoya Goule won gold in the women’s 800-metres at the Pan American Games, in Lima, Peru, today.

Goule won the two-lap event in 2:1.26 seconds.

Elaine Thompson took the top spot in the women’s 100-metres final with a time of 11-point-18-seconds.

Her compatriot, Natasha Morrison was 6th.

Rasheed Dwyer finished 5th in the men’s final.

Tajay Gayle got the silver in the men’s long jump with a leap of 8.17-metres.

Meanwhile, Yanique Thompson and Megan Simmonds both advance to tomorrow’s final of the women’s 100-metres hurdles.

Thompson advanced with 12.90 seconds clocking to win semi-final-2, while Simmonds finished third in semi-final-1 in 13-point-13-seconds.

Shericka Jackson booked her place in the women’s 400-metres final by posting 51-point-99-seconds to win semi-final one.

Demish Gaye finished third in the men’s semi-finals to book a lane in the final.

And the national under-23 footballers suffered a 4-nil loss to Panama to end the tournament in 6th position.
