Tax Administration Jamaica, TAJ, says it’s again surpassed the year to date collections target for the 2017/18 fiscal year.
In a statement on Friday, the TAJ says for the period April – December 2017, the Revenue Authority collected almost $208-billion.
The target for the period was $196-billion.
The TAJ says this performance continues the positive trend recorded over the last three years, with the Authority being on track to exceed its 283-billion dollar target.
It says the positive outcome is a result of the continued focus on compliance strategies which began in last financial year.
TAJ says it will continue to utilise all the avenues available to encourage and foster voluntary compliance through moral suasion.
However, it says tax evaders will be aggressively pursued through intelligence and enforcement actions and then brought to book.
