Justice Minister, Delroy Chuck, says the government is committed to providing the judiciary with the resources to allow them to deliver judgement within a reasonable time after a hearing is finished.
His response follows a newspaper report yesterday which notes that Judges are upset with the Minister, after he pointed to sanctions in other jurisdictions where judges fail to deliver their judgement six months after a hearing.
Minister Chuck is remaining steadfast that rulings must be made in a timely manner.
The Minister says he’s met with members of the judiciary who’ve voiced concerns with the challenges they face in the courtroom.
He says some of the issues, particularly as it relates to help with legal research, are already being addressed.
