Govt Establishes Working Group to Halt Slide in JMD


Finance Minister, Audley Shaw, says he’s asked a working group comprising members of the financial sector to meet weekly with the Central Bank to find a solution to the continuing depreciation of the Jamaican dollar.

Mr. Shaw says the working group has been asked to examine several crucial areas related to the dollar.

He told the House of Representatives that he’s asked the BOJ and members of the financial sector to give their assessment of the movement of the dollar.

He says he also met yesterday with members of the financial sector who agreed that the fundamentals of the economy are ‘in the right direction’.
