Heavy rains in recent days have left the country with an emergency repair bill of $554 million.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness gave the update in the House of Representatives Tuesday.

The Prime Minister also appealed to parents to be more vigilant during inclement weather.

He was again addressing the tragic circumstances that led to the death of 9-year old Kyle Richards.

Kyle was swept away by flood waters last week Wednesday in August Town.

His body was found in the Hope River in the vicinity of Harbour View in St Andrew on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Holness says a national dialogue is needed on garbage disposal in the country.
