Head of the Enterprise Divestment Team, Littleton Shirley, says the government’s waste to energy plan could see the Government of Jamaica receiving tenders from at least fourteen interest groups in 2019.
These pillars include environmental and social factors. He says investors would be expected to design, build, finance and operate the Riverton dump.
Mr Shirley says once the waste to energy plant is in place, the Riverton Dump will be relocated and replaced by sanitary landfills.
Littleton Shirley says the Riverton Dump would be converted into a green space for community use over an eight-year period.
