Govt Rakes in $60m in December from Traffic Ticket Amnesty

The Government raked in $60-million during the just concluded month from people who’ve taken advantage of the extended traffic ticket amnesty.

The extension of the amnesty became effective on November 27.

The expiration date for the extended amnesty is next week Saturday, January 13.

Communication Officer at the Tax Administration Jamaica, TAJ, Leighton Beckles says millions were collected during December.

Mr. Beckles says there are encouraging signs in the days leading up to the date when the extended amnesty will expire.

The government had reported that it collected some $590-illion over the three months of the first amnesty, which ran from August 2 to October 31.
