The government has reintroduced the Prime Minister’s National Youth Awards for Excellence after a three-year break.
Nominations are now opened and will run until August 31.
State Minister for Education and Youth, Floyd Green says Science and Technology and Environmental Protection have been added to the categories for the youth award.
He says the country will fall behind unless we become leaders in science and technology.
Mr. Green says there will be some exciting changes to existing award categories.
He says a new community-based award has been created to commemorate Jamaica’s 55th year of independence.

He’s encouraging youth people between the ages of 15 and 29, who excel in the various areas, to apply for the awards before the August 31 deadline.
