Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, says the government is committed to tabling legislation that’s needed to ensure Jamaica meets global standards regarding Anti Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism.
Minister Clarke also pointed to amendments to the Proceeds of Crime Act which will assist with due diligence without overly burdening law abiding citizens.
Dr. Clarke was speaking at the eighth annual Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism Conference yesterday.
The Finance Minister also says the Terrorist Prevention Act is being amended to deal with targeted financial sanctions.
Dr. Clarke says Jamaica will soon adopt the United Nations Security Council Resolution Implementation Act to bring reporting and compliance in-line with international treaty obligations.
The Finance Minister says this mix of legislative changes will strengthen Jamaica’s anti-corruption framework.
