Chief Executive Officer of the Jamaica Environment Trust, JET, Diana McCaulay says the government is suffering from investment desperation.
Miss Mcaulay has been chastising the government over the proposed use of a 1000 megawatt coal plant at ALPART in St. Elizabeth.
The plant was announced by Mining Miniser Mike Henry as part of the sale and reopening of ALPART by the Chinese Conglomerate, Jiuquan Iron and Steel Company, JISCO.
Miss McCaulay is concerned about the harmful effects coal could have on the local environment.
She says this deal has shown the government has no innovative ideas as it relates to economic growth.
Miss McCaulay says both political parties have have a habit of rushing headlong into proposals without doing proper due diligence.
