Former Contractor General Greg Christie says it’s important that the people of Jamaica be updated on the state of three crucial corruption-related issues.
Writing on Twitter on Thursday, Mr. Christie noted that DPP Paula Llewelyn has recently referred the corruption case of former Lucea Mayor, Shernet Haughton.
But he noted that the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, MOCA has said its unaware of what’s happening with a case which appears to be in limbo.
Mr. Christie says Works Minister, Dr. Omar Davies must also disclose his response to a recent finding by the Auditor General that a number of contractors have falsified reports.
The former Contractor General says Dr. Davies must disclose whether the Police have been called in to investigate the matter.
Additionally, Mr. Christie says it should also be disclosed whether there’s a Police probe into another finding by the Auditor General that billions in overpayments were made at the National Insurance Scheme, NIS.
Mr. Christie says in the interest of transparency and justice it must be made known whether anyone has been found accountable for the breach.
Christie says he’s compelled to re-highlight the matters and enlist the good offices of the National Integrity Action in seeking answers for the public.
