Criminal charges have been laid on the teenage son of reputed gang leader and murder convict, Joel Andem.
Andem’s 16-year old son has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. He was charged on the weekend following a question and answer session.
The younger-Andem was questioned in the presence of his Attorney, Peter Champagnie. The teenager was taken into custody last week Monday.
The Police say an AK-47 rifle and 27-bullets were taken from him. He was arrested during a security forces operation in the Landlease area of Papine, St. Andrew. He’s to appear before the Corporate Area Gun Court on Thursday this week.
The Young Andem was sentenced to three years’ probation before the Gun Court in 2016.
This after he pleaded guilty to possession of an illegal gun which was found in his knapsack while he was at school.
The Juvenile’s father, Joel Andem and his Gideon Warriors gang had reigned terror for many years in sections of the Corporate Area.
After four years on the run, the elder Andem who was at the time the country’s most wanted man was captured in May 2004 by police and soldiers during an operation in Clarksonville in St Ann.
