The Housing Agency of Jamaica, HAJ, has described reports that the agency had recorded major losses in a year as ‘dated’ and ‘erroneous’.
On Saturday, the Jamaica Gleaner reported that the HAJ recorded a loss of almost $900-million in one year. But the Chairman of the HAJ, Norman Brown, says this is not accurate.
Mr. Brown says the newspaper report failed to contextualise the reported losses.
Mr. Brown says the reported losses were between 2014 and 2016. He says his board inherited the losses, which arose from incomplete projects started under the previous administration of the HAJ.
He says the Agency is projected to turn an almost 61 million dollar profit at the end of this fiscal year.
