Almost half of all businesses say they expect to be much more profitable this year than last year.
That’s according to the latest Business and Consumer Confidence survey, commissioned by the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, JCC.
The survey has been done quarterly by Market Research Services, MRS, for the past seventeen years.
According to the survey, business confidence improved in the last quarter to the highest levels in a year.
Executive Chairman of MRS, Don Anderson, says businesses see this as the right time to invest.
However, Anderson says business persons remain wary of crime, which continues to impact their plans for expansion.
Meanwhile, consumer confidence dipped last quarter. Anderson says people have fewer plans to spend on major items this year.
