Superintendent in charge of the Hanover Police division, Sharon Beeput, says the parish has seen a major reduction in crime.
Superintendent Beeput, who took up command of the parish in March of 2017, disclosed that at that time the crime rate was very high.
She was addressing an annual march against violence, domestic dispute, child abuse and road fatalities in Hanover.
Superintendent Beeput says while murders have increased, the clear up rate has also improved.
Meanwhile, Pastor of the Calvary Gospel Assembly located in Pel River, Reverend Revern Grant, says he’s of the opinion that the annual event and the actions of the church have played a role in the reduction of crime.
