Health Minister Attempts To Clarify Conflicting Data He Presented On Dengue Deaths

Health and Wellness Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton, is attempting to clarify what appears to be conflicting data he has presented to the nation on dengue-related deaths since January 1, 2018.

Last October, the Minister told the House of Representatives there were a total of 135 dengue-related deaths.

But last week Tuesday, at a media briefing in Kingston the Health Minister told the country there’ve been 85 dengue-related deaths between January 1, 2018 and January 31 this year.

When our news centre questioned Dr Tufton on Monday about the difference in the figures, the Health Minister had this to say.

He says the accurate figure would be 85.
