The Ministry of Health is warning Jamaicans to take additional vector control precautions due to the heavy rains associated with the passing of Hurricane Matthew.
The warning was issued yesterday by the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Winston De La Haye.
The country is still under threat from the mosquito-borne Zika-virus.
There were over six-hundred suspected cases of that virus before the rains from Hurricane Matthew.
Dr. De La Haye says the Ministry will be returning to the field in the coming days to resume the fight against Zika.
He was speaking at a Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management press conference yesterday.
