Holness Insists Conditions Exist for SOE


Prime Minister Andrew Holness is again rejecting suggestions from the Opposition that the conditions do not exist in Jamaica for the declaration of a state of emergency to deal with crime and violence.

Mr Holness says it’s encouraging that the States of Public Emergency which were declared last year contributed to a 22-percent reduction in murders.

But, he says the PNP’s move to prevent another extension of the special security measures will undermine the efforts of law enforcement in Jamaica.

He was addressing the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
