Story by Abka Fitz-Henley & Rashawn Thompson

Opposition Leader, Andrew Holness is condemning the murder of Constable Barrett.

Mr. Holness today spoke to the wife of Constable Barrett, on his visit to the Denham Town Police Station.

Mrs. Barrett wept.

She told Mr. Holness that one of the two children she has with the Policeman, is struggling to understand his father’s fate.

Mr. Holness told Constable Barrett’s relatives that the country must be ashamed of the brutal act which caused the demise of their loved one.

Meanwhile, Acting National Security Minister, Phillip Paulwell, also visited the Denham Town Police Station this afternoon.

Minister Paulwell says he’s confused by the conflicting reports about the circumstances of the policeman’s killing.

He says he met today with Constable Barrett’s partner and shared the government’s sympathies.

Mr. Paulwell says the policeman’s parents, who are both overseas, are to shortly return to Jamaica.

He says he understands that it’s a very difficult time for Constable Barrett’s family and immediate colleagues.

Minister Paulwell says it’s a tragedy for two personnel from the Denham Town Police Station, to be killed in a week.
