Opposition Leader, Andrew Holness, says he’ll be answering all questions related to his finances and whether he’s a director, investor or owner of any company with offices in St Lucia or any other Caribbean country.
His response follows a story published in the Sunday Gleaner headlined “We want to Know – 10 questions for the party leaders”
Speaking at a Constituency Conference at the Stony Hill Primary School in West Rural St. Andrew last evening, Mr. Holness answered a few of the questions.
On Sunday, the Gleaner directed 10 questions each to Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller and Opposition Leader Andrew Holness.
Mr. Holness used his presentation on Sunday to answer some of the questions.
Mrs. Simpson Miller avoided the issue when she spoke last night in Hanover.
Mr. Holness told the audience that he’ll be releasing both his medical and financial records.
Mr. Holness also addressed the issue of accountability in governance and whether he’d be decisive in sacking those government officials who are either incompetent or are implicated in corruption.
Following his presentation, Nationwide News attempted to ask Mr. Holness whether he’s a director, investor or owner of any company with offices in St Lucia or any other Caribbean country.
He promised to answer before leaving the venue.
However after walking towards the Opposition Leader’s waiting motorcar, we were thwarted by members of his security detail.
One of his handlers, then came to clarify what questions we wanted Mr. Holness to answer.
The handler, who was travelling with Mr. Holness, then sent our reporter a text message, saying all questions will be answered when Mr. Holness releases a report on his finances.
We asked for a timeline for that response but were told that none could be provided.
