Prime Minister Andrew Holness is urging leaders in the Commonwealth to work towards a new system of assisting less powerful economies in the Region to be resilient to climate change.
Prime Minister Holness notes that last year three powerful hurricanes devastated several Caribbean islands.
He argues that it’s not the best approach for aid to be merely offered after the damage is already done.
Prime Minister Holness says it’s unfortunate that countries which contribute the least to climate change appear to pay the heaviest price.
Prime Minister Holness was addressing the Commonwealth Heads of Government conference in the UK yesterday.
