Holness Welcomes Wheatley’s Signal of Party Funds Payback


Prime Minister Holness says the former Energy Minister, Dr. Andrew Wheatley has taken a step in the right direction to pay back funds that was spent to host a surprise birthday party for him.

According to a report in the Gleaner yesterday, Dr. Wheatley said he was ‘in talks with friends and backers about paying back the money’ to Petrojam.

The article further stated that Dr. Wheatley said he did ‘not have that sort of money personally.’

The Auditor General’s report says some USD$11,000 was spent on the surprise party for Dr. Wheatley.

And the Auditor General has been invited to Cabinet today to share changes that can be made across the board to improve the public sector.
