Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, has confirmed that some hospitals are being pulled into war zones by feuding gangs.
He says this is creating fear among staff.
Dr. Tufton says his Ministry may have to consider reallocating resources in order to increase security at public health institutions.
This means the budget for some projects may have to be cut or go on the back burner. This, amid reports of an increasing number of medical staff being attacked by criminals.
The Health Ministry is reviewing the security arrangements at public health institutions.
The government already spends almost $730-million on security for hospitals and clinics. But, Dr. Tufton says they may need to seek more funds from central government or the National Health Fund.
