Prominent hotelier, Dimitris Kosvogiannis, has been freed of criminal charges.
Kosvogiannis is a Greek national and also a former general manager of the Melia Braco Resort in Trelawny. He was freed this morning of obtaining credit by false pretence.
Allegations that Kosvogiannis had fraudulently acquired credit facilities from two financial institutions were also dismissed in the Corporate Area Criminal Court today.
Mr. Kosvogiannis’s lead Attorney is Peter Champagnie.
Kosvogiannis is to stand trial on June 5 this year on a lesser charge.
Mr. Champagnie says his client is relieved that the major charges against him have been dismissed.
Kosvogiannis was arrested in July last year when he arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
In a statement to the media, the police said the arrest resulted from an intense investigation into several fraudulent activities committed against the two major banking institutions.
