Householders vs Coalition

The Jamaica Household Workers Union says it was not consulted when the women’s lobby group, 51-percent coalition, chose to suspend participation in the social partnership agreement in protest at the Government’s handling of the NHT-Outameni scandal.

In a letter to Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller on December 15, the coalition included the Household Workers Union among its members who’d agreed to suspend participation in the social partnership agreement.

But in a letter to the Prime Minister today, the Household Workers Union said it was not consulted before it was included among those who’d agreed to take leave from the partnership.

The Union told the Prime Minister that it does not endorse the position of the 51-percent coalition.
