The Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica, BCJ, says it’s still working with local and international stakeholders to ensure that cable companies are not breaching copyright laws by showing unauthorized US channels in Jamaica.
Last year, the Commission issued a cease and desist order to companies who were broadcasting several channels without the requisite licenses.
As a result, as many as 98 channels being broadcast illegally by local operators, have been removed from the line up.
Executive Director of the BCJ Cordell Green says the process is still not complete.
Mr. Green is rubbishing reports that cable operators are still showing US channels illegally.
He says the industry has been 100 percent compliant.
