There’s to be another meeting this month involving the leadership of the Justice Ministry, Police Federation and the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM.
Justice Minister, Mark Golding, had convened a meeting in late December for the Federation to air its grievances with how INDECOM carries out its mandate of investigating the actions of members of the security forces.
However INDECOM Commissioner, Terrence Williams was absent from that meeting.
The Chairman of the Police Federation, Sergeant Raymond Wilson, says another meeting is to be held with all parties present.
Sergeant Raymond Wilson, Chairman of the Police Federation.
The Police Federation had previously complained about the manner in which INDECOM executes its mandate, in a presentation to Parliament last year.
Among other things, it’s calling for an oversight body for INDECOM.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Paula Llewellyn, has also suggested an oversight mechanism for INDECOM.
