The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, says it has taken an interest in an incident where an alleged rape victim was transported to the police station in the same vehicle as her alleged attacker.
Public Relations Officer for INDECOM, Denyelle Anderson says the Commission will be requesting a report on the matter from the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
The teen girl was allegedly raped by two men at a house in Portmore earlier this month.
The Inspectorate of Constabulary has launched an investigation into why the minor and the alleged suspect were taken by the police in the same vehicle.
It’s understood that there’s no protocol in place relating to the police transporting victims and suspects in the same vehicle.
The Office of the Children’s Advocate is also probing the matter to determine whether the best interest of the child was protected.
