Workers at the National Irrigation Commission, NIC, are at breaking point over many unsettled issues.
Workers at the NIC are represented by the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, BITU.
The BITU’s Chief Organizing Officer is Colin Virgo.
The workers also allege that several employees have been brought on in recent times, despite the Public Sector Memorandum of Understanding declaring a wage and hiring freeze.
Mr. Virgo says the workers are at the breaking point and may take action.
He’s asking for the intervention of Labour Minister, Derrick Kellier.
He says the Minister’s portfolio responsibilities give him a dual role in the ongoing impasse.
