CEO of Island Grill, Thalia Lyn, says the government should lower the duty on environmentally friendly packaging, to offset their higher cost in light of the announced ban on single-use plastics and styrofoam.

Island Grill has been one of the trailblazers in the use of green-friendly containers.

However, Lyn says there’s a heavy cost attached to the importation of the eco-friendly packaging.

She says while the initiative is welcome, it’ll be a challenge for many companies to switch .

Ms Lyn says she’s also hoping to hear more on what products will be considered acceptable in making the exempted plastics used by companies.
