Ja Could Soon Begin Importing Labour Due To Aging Population, Migration Patterns – PIOJ Official

A senior official at the Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ, says Jamaica could soon have to look abroad for labour due to the country’s ‘rapidly aging’ population and migration patterns.

Senior Director at the PIOJ, Easton Williams, says migration is an issue of importance for developing countries like Jamaica.

Mr. Williams says countries like Jamaica should diversify the development of rural areas to avoid forcing younger members of the population to leave for developed countries.
