President of the JAAA, Dr. Warren Blake, is confident the Jamaica under-18 Invitational will be a permanent fixture on local track and field calendar.

Jamaica was asked to host the meet after a regional competition that was scheduled to be held in Nicaragua was canceled because of ongoing civil unrest in the Central American country.

Despite the fact that the meet was hastily organized, Dr. Blake says it was well received by the teams that were able to take up the invitation.
