A single mother is pleading for help for her son, who’s been in lock up at the Hundred Man Police Station in Portmore for over a year.
Venice Bent, a mother of three, says her eldest son has been in lock up since January of last year on assault charges.
She says her son was granted bail in the sum of six-hundred-thousand dollars in April.
Miss Bent says she didn’t have the money to pay so she took her land title to the St. Catherine Resident Magistrates court as collateral yesterday.
She says her son developed tuberculosis.
She’s finding it difficult to fill his prescriptions.
The distraught mother says paying for an attorney is another expense that has dwindled her savings.
Miss Bent says she has made other efforts to try to speed up the process by requesting a letter from the National Land Agency to prove that she’s the owner of the property.
Having received the letter from the land agency, she was denied at the courts.
Miss Bent says her son is scheduled to face the court again in July.
