Jamaica is leading Latin America and the Caribbean for the country’s maturity in it’s Public Private Partnerships, PPPs.
Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke made the disclosure this morning, as he delivered the keynote address at a conference hosted by the Development Bank of Jamaica.
Dr. Clarke was citing a recent report published by The Economist Intelligence Unit, a British business within the Economist Group that provides forecasting and advisory services.
According to Dr. Clarke, the report also ranks Jamaica number-five in Latin America for the country’s business and investment climate.
However, he says the island’s weakness is in the area of financing major projects.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minister says the government is working with the United States Treasury Department to improve the procurement process for infrastructure.
