Jamaica to Maintain Ties Between US & Venezuela – Paulwell

The Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, is set to visit Jamaica during the 1st week of September to host a meeting with all beneficiaries of the PetroCaribe agreement.

The planned visit by President Maduro is being viewed by some analysts as a push back to President Obama’s energy initiatives announced yesterday which provide an alternative to Venezuelan oil.

The Energy Minister, Phillip Paulwell says Jamaica has indicated to the United States that it intends to remain with Petrocaribe while it explores American alternatives.

Mr Paulwell says Jamaica has received assurances about the strength of Petrocaribe.
