Jamaican Men & Women Advance to 4x100m Finals


Jamaica’s men’s and women’s teams advanced to the final of the 4-by-100-metres relays in Rio.

The Quartet of Simone Facey, Sashalee Forbes, Veronica Campbell-Brown and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce posted a season best 41.79 seconds to win heat one of the women’s 4-by-100-metres.

Meanwhile, the men’s team, which includes Jevaughn Minzie, Asafa Powell, Nickel Ashmead and Kemar Bailey-Cole finished second in the heat.

Powell says their main aim was just to ensure they completed the race.

Annsert Whyte failed to medal in the men’s 400-metres hurdles finishing 5th in a personal best 48.07-seconds.

The event was won by Kerron Clement of the USA in a season best 47.73-seconds.
