Director General of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority, Nari Williams-Singh, says ‘significant progress’ has been made in restoring data control equipment at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
However, he says Jamaica’s airspace is not yet back to full operating capacity.
A lightning strike last Friday damaged radar and communication networks operated by air traffic controllers at the airport.
Mr. Williams-Singh says restoration following the lightning strike is tedious and requires attention to detail.
Williams-Singh says Jamaica is not the only territory which had been affected by the lightning strike.
