JCF Welcomes 196 New Constables

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) welcomed 196 new constables to its ranks today.

Of the almost 200 new constables, only one Donnique Anderson, is female. She was also one of two valedictorians.

Constable Anderson was also awarded the prize for achieving the highest overall marks.

Constable Anderson says this is her second time in training as she was unable to graduate the last time due to illness.

The 22-year old says her gender was no barrier to her during training.

Statistics obtained from the JCF show that the ratio of men to women in the Constabulary is 70 to 30.

Meanwhile, National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, says the government will be further improving the country’s security apparatus this year. He says this will include the purchasing of a new fleet of cars for the JCF.

Dr. Horace Chang was speaking at the Passing Out Parade for new constables at the National Police College of Jamaica at Twickenham Park in St. Catherine.
