JCTU Supports Changes to BOJ Act


The Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions is supporting the changes to the BOJ Act

Rudolph Thomas, who spoke on behalf of the Union, pointed to a number of sections in the Bill that are critical to critical to the modernisation and independence of the BOJ.

However, the Union is recommending that the BOJ Governor’s tenure be a fixed term of ten years.

They’re also supporting a position to mandate the Governor to testify to Parliament on his policy decisions at least biannually.
