JLP Insists Holness NOT under Investigation

JLP General Secretary, Dr. Horace Chang, says a report carried today by Radio Jamaica, alleging that Opposition Leader Andrew Holness is the subject of an official investigation, is untrue.

Dr. Chang says the JLP would like to make it clear that there’s no investigation into the affairs of Mr. Holness.

Dr. Chang says Mr. Holness is current with all his statutory and fiduciary reports, as mandated by law.

He says he’s very surprised by the news report and hopes that RJR has not been consumed by the web of lies being spun by the PNP.

Dr. Chang says the JLP takes the reputation of its leader and his family as a serious matter and is therefore requesting that the story be withdrawn.

He says the JLP’s lawyers are probing all statements made publicly and will take appropriate action in short order.

Meanwhile, senior sources at the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, MOCA, say they are unaware of any probe into issues raised by the PNP regarding Mr. Holness’ house.

RJR news reported this morning that MOCA and the Financial Investigation Division, FID, of the Ministry of Finance have launched a probe into the issues.

But a senior MOCA official told our news center this morning that he’s unaware of any such probe.

When contacted this morning, the head of the FID, Robin Sykes told our news center that the unit does not comment on any investigation.
