JOA Celebrates International Day Of The Girl


The Jamaica Olympic Association, JOA, and its Women in Sport Commission is joining with over 1-hundred countries in celebrating International Day of the Girl, today.

Under this year’s theme ‘Girl Force: Unscripted and Unstoppable’, the JOA says it extols the achievements of all girls, especially girls in sport in Jamaica.

The JOA says it salutes the accomplishments of these and other girls on the rise in sport.

It says it shares in the mission of the United Nations Platform for Action in championing the advancement of the rights of women and girls.

The JOA says it proudly stands at the ready in supporting women in the breaking of barriers.

International Day of the Girl was first commemorated in 2012.

It was selected as a special day which the United Nations dedicated to recognising girls’ rights and the unique challenges they face across the world.
