Journalism Exempted From Data Protection Bill


Chief Technical Director in the Technology Ministry, Wakheen Murray, told the Joint Select Committee yesterday that it’s important to note that the data protection bill proposes to exempt from prosecution personal data obtained for special purposes including Journalism.

Miss Murray expanded on the context in which the bill proposes to prevent the prosecution of people who obtain information for special legal purposes.

The next meeting of the committee is set for July 24.

Fitz-Henley is also the recipient of the PM Youth Award for Excellence. Over the years, he has appeared as a guest on the BBC World Service and BBC London.
