JTA President Raises Concerns over Govt Funding Education

President of the Jamaica Teachers Association, JTA, Howard Isaacs, says concerns still exist over the sustainability of the government’s new school funding arrangements.

He was delivering his inaugural address at the JTA’s Annual Conference in Montego Bay, St. James.

The government recently increased the subvention to high schools per student while abolishing all mandatory auxiliary fees.

Mr. Isaacs is also raising concerns about the funding arrangements at the primary school level.

He says this critical area of of education is woefully under funded.
