Road fatalities are down so far for this month when compared to June last year!
Up to June 17 last year, 18 people died road crashes. For the same period this year, the number was down to 11. It’s an eight-percent reduction.
The Road Safety Unity of the Ministry of Transport says while the reduction is encouraging the figures are still too high.
The unit says Westmoreland continues to be the leading parish for fatalities accounting for 17-percent.
Motorcyclists and pedestrians remain the most vulnerable road users accounting for 29-percent and 19-percent respectively.
