Justice Minister, Delroy Chuck, is rejecting calls for a paternity leave law.
A number of gender advocates and other stakeholders have been calling for the legislation.
Opposition Leader, Dr Peter Phillips, recently announced plans to establish a family life institute and to introduce a paternity leave law, if his party forms the next government.
But, Minister Chuck says he’s not in support of any such policy at this time
The Justice Minister says too many fathers fail to honour their responsibilities and have to be taken to court by the mothers of their children.
Mr. Chuck says families are failing partly due to what he calls worthless fathers.
