Deputy Managing Director of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, JUTC, Linval Thompson, says the State-run bus company is losing $8-million per month.
This, he says, is due to the discontinuation of the JUTC bus lane on the Mandela Highway.
The dedicated JUTC bus lane was discontinued in April when improvement works started on the corridor.
And, Mr. Thompson says passenger numbers for the company have declined significantly.
He says the company is struggling to transport just under 60-million passengers per year.
Linval Thompson was speaking last evening during a special ‘In the Court Yard series’ on Nationwide News.
