The state-owned bus company, Jamaica Urban Transit Company, JUTC, says it has increased the number of buses on the Spanish Town route– one of the areas in the St. Catherine North Police Division currently under the State of Emergency.
In a statement this afternoon, JUTC says this is in anticipation of the increased number of commuters who it says ordinarily would use other means of transport.
The JUTC also says its on-time pullout is 4:30 in the morning so that persons can catch the earliest bus available for their commute.
In the meantime, the company is assuring commuters that service will not be discontinued for any of the other areas under a State of Public Emergency.
It’s decision follows discussions with the leadership on the ground today.
However, the company is advising commuters there might be delays and some inconvenience as the buses may be searched.
JUTC is also encouraging commuters and its workers to comply with the security forces as they too may be searched.
