Kahjeel Mais Murder Case Resumes Today

The long-running Kahjeel Mais/X-6 murder case is to resume today.

The trial has been postponed several times due to the unavailability of court room space among other issues.

The accused, prominent businessman Patrick Powell, is to appear in the Home Circuit Court in Downtown Kingston at 10 this morning.

He is expected to enter a plea.

Over the past few weeks, Khajeel’s sister, Kimberly Mais, has launched public appeals on electronic and social media for the case to be heard

17 year-old former Kingston College student, Khajeel Mais, was shot dead on July 1, 2011 after a fender bender in Havendale, St. Andrew.

Mais was killed after the driver of a BMW X-6 sports utility vehicle fired gunshots into the taxi in which he was travelling.

Powell is being represented by Queens Counsel Valerie Neita Robertson and Deborah Martin.
