Kari Douglas labels PNP as ‘Outdated’, Praises JLP’s ‘Practical’ Politics


Councillor for the Trafalgar Division in St. Andrew, Kari Douglas, says the governing JLP has adopted a more practical approach to politics compared to outdated ideals which are still being promoted by the PNP.

Douglas made the comment this morning during an exclusive interview on Nationwide radio today.

Councillor Douglas expanded on the reasons behind her stunning decision yesterday to walk out of the PNP and join the JLP.

The former PNP member says many of the younger people in the party appear to be burdened by the expectation that they must cling to outdated ideals.

She says some of those ideals are not attractive to the electorate.

Douglas says the governing JLP under the leadership of Prime Minister Holness has taken a more practical and attractive approach to managing affairs of the Jamaican state.

Councillor Douglas says a newspaper publication today which alleged that she walked out of the PNP because she was sidelined by her former PNP colleagues in the KSAMC is not accurate.

Councillor Douglas says her decision to join the JLP was not sudden but came after careful consideration.
